AudioFields is a mobile app for recording sound and GPS routes ("field recordings") and sharing them on an open, public map. This policy describes what the app collects and how it is used.
What we collect
- Account — your email address, used only for signing in (a one-time code is emailed to you; there are no passwords). Your profile has a display name, a handle, and an optional home location that you choose.
- Recordings you make — audio, the GPS route (or single location) captured while recording, timestamps, and any title, notes, or tags you add. Recordings are stored on your device first.
- Recordings you publish — when you tap publish, the recording — audio, route, location, title, tags, and your profile name/handle — becomes public. Everyone using AudioFields can see and hear it. Don't publish what you don't want public.
We do not collect analytics, advertising identifiers, or contacts, and we do not track you outside the app.
Microphone and location
The microphone and GPS are used only while you are recording, including with the screen locked — that's the app's core feature. Location is never collected in the background outside an active recording.
Where data lives
- Unpublished recordings: only on your device.
- Account data and published recordings: Supabase (authentication and database) and DigitalOcean Spaces (audio files). These providers process data on our behalf.
Deleting your data
You can delete any recording in the app — deleting a published recording removes both the public entry and the audio file from our servers. To delete your account and all associated data, email the address below.
